Frogs and toads are some of my favorite small critters, but I have no story that connects me to them.  They've simply intrigued me since I was a child.  I spent a bit of time back then watching them swim or play near the creek by our home.  These days, I'm delighted when they hop into my garden to snack on bugs.
 
I've painted and sold several frogs over the years, but in this piece of artwork I used real gold and copper pigments to cause reflections on its skin, making it shimmer under display lights.
 
Nestled was painted with several layers of heavy acrylic paint on a 30"x30"x1.5" gallery-wrapped and splined canvas, and protected with a final varnish coat against damage from dust or UV lighting.  All materials are professional grade.
